Traveling to Greece in 2008 with Freedom Tours opened my eyes – and mind – to the possibilities of small group travel. I’ve been traveling ever since, often helping with itineraries – to Morocco, Galapagos, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Central America and California Wine Country. Many more trips are coming – Eastern Europe, Turkey, Guatemala – which I hope to share with other Freedom Travelers.
Adventure, art and culture is my favorite travel combination – I want to learn about the art/culture and history of the country I’m visiting, meet people and hear their thoughts about their country, as well as be engaged through physical activity such as walking, hiking and boating.
My passion for travel and connecting with interesting people, sharing the travel experience makes me a better Travel Architect. It also deepens friendships and adds new ones.
What is your favorite travel tip?
Packing is crucial for me – I’ve learned finally how to travel light and keep my papers organized.
What is your favorite place? And the “not-to-miss” thing to do there?
I’ve found that my fellow travelers are the best resource – often exposing me to places I might never have considered.
What is your favorite travel reference?
The village of Oia in Santorini, Greece is at the top of my list. As I looked over the cliffs to the deepest blue water I’ve ever seen, I felt completely surrounded – and in awe – by its history, beauty and charm. When I go there again (and I will!) I’ll be sure to catch the sunset from the top of the volcanic cliffs.
